Hi Everyone! It’s me, Bug! And have I got a new friend you just have to meet! It’s Chonk! He’s an affectionate 3 y/o Border Collie mix who does very well with other dogs!
Once my foster sister Corona found her new home, my human decided it was time to take in another. The shelter had just received a whole pack of feral dogs, Chonk being one of them. Let me tell you… this cute young man looked a whole lot different the first time we met. He was a giant mat, and was definitely in need of a bath. You could smell him coming from 100 feet away.
As a matter of fact, when they first brought him out from the kennel into the meeting area, a whole bunch of the staff was looking around and all were asking “WHAT IS THAT SMELL???” “It’s Chonk!”, my human said.
After a serious bath and brushing, he was ready to come home. From the get go, Chonk was friendly, but very shy and wary. He wouldn’t walk at all on a leash, so you had to pick him up and carry him, which would almost always make him pee. But as for being Feral? It became clear pretty quickly that this guy had to have lived in a home before. More than likely, he was dumped or abandoned by his previous family and had been living on the streets for a while.
Chonk has been hanging out with me and Smith and Cinnamon and is doing great. My human has been working with him every day, and he now knows Sit, Shake, Down, and he’s working on Stay. He’s also doing great on his potty training as well. There were a couple accidents in the first few days that had to do more with fear than anything else. He’s now been accident free for over a week, and has even learned how to use the doggie door.
The form is not published.
Chonk still needs to be neutered, but his appointment is set for Jul 29th. He’s up to date on all his shots and has been de-wormed and dipped. Chonk loves to be close to you and leans in for pets and loves to give kisses as well. He’s been great with all the dogs here, so consider him dog social. He’s definitely still a bit shy at first when meeting new people and dogs, but it doesn’t take him long at all to warm up.
Chonk is eating well and has no known medical issues. He has not been tested around cats. So far, because of everything going on with CoVid, he has not met any children yet, but he has been very gentle with all his interactions, so he would probably be fine with kids. If you or anyone you know is interested in adopting Chonk, give us a call or shoot us an email with any questions.
This special guy will bring any family a lifetime of happiness!
Love,
Bug!
