Oh My Gosh! Oh my Gosh! Oh My Gosh! Can you believe how cute this little guy is??? So when me and my human were at the shelter to pick up Willow, there were some little puppies that had just arrived. Apparently, someone had left them in a ditch somewhere. That makes me so mad! I just don’t understand how anyone could not want to just hug and squeeze and kiss this boy!
Since he had just arrived that day, he had to stay at the shelter to make sure that his family wasn’t looking for him. But since the shelter is no place for a puppy, I made my human promise me that if no one came in for him, that we would take him out and find him a home!
Well, several days went by and guess what?! No one came to claim little Brucey! So we drove down to the shelter and picked him up. Poor Bruce. He had been having a rough time. Not only did he have Giardia (that’s when these little things get in your tummy and give you really smelly poop! It’s super gross!) but it looks like Bruce had gone through some rough times. We found that he had a lot of scabbing and injuries around his neck. There was a 5″ piece of string that was embedded under his skin like someone had tied string around his neck and he grew so much that his skin basically grew over the string. It was very sad. Oh, and he was covered with ticks! We pulled 36 off him when he got home!
The other thing that I noticed right away was that Bruce was missing about 2/3 of his right ear. It looks like it had been ripped or bitten off. 🙁 That’s actually how he got his name. The little piece of his ear that’s left looks just like a little bat wing! So I thought Bat Wing? No… Batman? Nah… Bruce Wayne? Now we got it!
But none of this bothered Bruce! He was just as happy as could be. He was out of the shelter and getting fed and he knew he was on the road to happiness! Bruce loved to play with me and my brother, Kasper. He was so funny! Sometimes when I was just laying around, he’d just climb on top of me and start biting at my neck, so I’d get up and instead of him jumping off… he’d hang on to my back and we’d play Horse and Cowboy! I’ll tell you though… in the end… Horse always wins! 😛
Anyway, as much as I would have loved to just let him live here happily ever after, my human explained to me that we need to find Bruce a home because then we’ll be able to help get another puppy out of the shelter! I agreed! Bruce had been staying with us for a couple weeks and was feeling great! So now this little ball of love was ready to be adopted!
Given how cute he is, it didn’t take long. Bruce found a home almost immediately. He was so happy!
But this is not the end of Bruce’s Story.
Due to an unfortunate medical issue with his family, Bruce came back to stay with us. He was depressed for a little while, but with all the other dogs here to play with, he was soon back to his happy and normal self. Now, Bruce is looking for his FOREVER furever home!
Bruce is housebroken and crate trained. He gets along great with other dogs. My human says he’s a German Short Haired Pointer Mix… But this seems weird to me because he only speaks English and I’ve never seen him point at anything. He stares a lot though?
